This project aims to optimize the chipping technology for improved impregnation and find synergy effects between the unit operation process wood chipping and following unit operations. Another objective is to gain knowledge about the chipper canting process. The research problems concerns:

• Fundamental wood fracture and damage mechanisms
• Structural changes in the wood matrix
• Modelling power consumption for a chipper canter
